Getting the perfect fitting shoe can seem far more elusive than it really should. We all know roughly what shoe size we are, but we also know that this differs between brands with some being true to size with others fitting a little bigger or smaller.

Then there are the different measurements the shoes might be sold in, UK or EU, and width measurements to consider. All of this makes it a little tricky to know exactly what your perfect shoe size is. Our ultimate shoe sizing guide is here to help.

This blog will guide you through:

  • How to measure your feet correctly
  • A standard measurement chart for men and women with UK and EU sizes and their corresponding measurement
  • How different brands size up so you can select your size with confidence.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR FEET CORRECTLY

  1.  Place your bare foot on a sheet of paper, with the heel resting against the wall.
  2.  Draw a line in front of the longest toe and measure the distance in cm or mm between the edge of the sheet and the line. This will give your length measurement.

Width fittings are described in the UK using a letter. Most of the shoes you will find on the high street are a D width fitting - which is a standard fitting. The next width fitting up from a D, is an E, then an EE and then EEE (3E).

  1.  Use the standard size tables below with the lengths and width sizes to find your shoe size in UK, EU and US sizes.

BRANDS SIZING ADVICE

Although the standard sizing chart above is a useful starting point, it’s often the case that the size you are in one brand differs from the next. We’ve compiled a handy rundown of some quality shoe brands with advice on how they fit and their own specific size guides so you can adjust your size selection accordingly.

Due to the laced closing on FRONT’s brogues and trainers they offer a snug fit befitting a tailored finish.

Barbour offer a quality range of footwear for men and women that run true to size.

Caprice shoes tend to come up slightly on the large size so it’s perhaps worth trying the size/half size down from your usual size. They also come in either an EU G width fitting (a UK D) which is slightly wider than standard or an EU H fitting (a UK E) which is a wider fit.

Geox shoes are renowned for their fusion of comfort and style. Being an Italian-based brand, the shoes are designed with European sizes in mind, and they tend to run half a size larger so, again it’s worth considering the size down too when you try them. Geox offer their own measurements on their shoe sizes so you can be confident in ordering the right size shoe.
